The operation of the Single Digital List of Surgeries was launched on Thursday, February 1, by the Joint Ministerial Decision signed by Health Minister Adonis Georgiadis, Digital Governance Minister Dimitris Papastergiou, Deputy Minister of Economy and Finance Thanos Petralias and Deputy Health Minister Marios Themistokleous. The measure aims to reduce the waiting times of patients on the waiting list for operations in state hospitals.
“The operation of the Single Digital List of Surgeries and the establishment of a Committee of Surgeries for National Health System hospitals, to reduce waiting times for patients, will start from February 1,” government spokesperson Pavlos Marinakis announced during a press briefing on Thursday, ANA reports.
The list is being updated with the necessary information on the clinical assessment of each citizen needing surgery and interoperates with every necessary information system and structured data system, such as the National Patient Registers and the Individual Electronic Health File, he noted.
Marinakis also referred to the benefits of making a Single Digital List of Surgeries, stressing that “it constitutes an important reform in the field of health that will ensure the reduction of waiting times, monitor the clinical characteristics of patients, and facilitate the work of doctors, tackling phenomena of delays and problems in the system that were ultimately detrimental for patients.”
