Municipality of Athens and HAPCO & DES join forces for the Conference Center

The Municipality of Athens is betting on business tourism to increase tourist flows from foreign markets, with the main goal of placing the capital on the map of conference tourism with claims.

Speaking to Tornos News, the CEO of Development Athens S.A. Ioannis Georgizas recognizes that the existence of a large conference center is vital to achieving the above goal. That is why he emphasizes that he will fight his own battle with industry professionals so that the Olympic Tae Kwon Do facility becomes a conference venue.

Together with HAPCO & DES for the Athens conference

The CEO of the development agency congratulates the President of the Association of Greek Professional Conference and Event Organizers – HAPCO & DES Sissy Lygnou on assuming the presidency of the International Association of Professional Conference Organizers, underlining that she will stand by the Association so that the conference in Athens becomes a reality.

It is noted that during her term, Ms. Lygnou will be responsible for determining the policy that the Association will follow, ensuring compliance with its statutes and standing regulations, defending the global conference and event industry, and developing IAPCO.

Focusing on the professional events front, the municipality and the Development Agency have currently set their sights on organizing “This is Athens – Agora”, the leading B2B meeting for tourism that will be hosted from April 7 to 8 at the iconic venue of Aigli Zappeio.

“The 10th anniversary of the organization of this leading tourism meeting centered on Athens led us to the decision to proceed with a substantial rebranding. The goal is for this international event to reflect the vision we have for our city as a modern, sustainable and inclusive destination, holistically highlighting the work of extroversion through This is Athens, which is the city’s tourism brand”, emphasizes the CEO of the Development Agency of Athens S.A. Ioannis Georgizas.
