On May 11, the Mountaineering Professionals Association “Xenios Zeus” plans to host the long-awaited sporting event, Koziakas Mountain Race 2025, a series of running races that will traverse the stunning trails and forest roads of Koziakas in the Elati – Pertouli area. The start and finish will take place at the historic Elati Town Hall, providing participants with the opportunity to simultaneously enjoy the athletic challenge and the beauty of nature.
The event includes three different races, suitable for athletes with different levels of experience:
25 km race: This is the most demanding race, inviting athletes to explore the most difficult trails of Koziakas and compete in “tough” conditions.
8km Race: Ideal for those looking for a challenge of moderate difficulty, but equally filled with beautiful landscapes and forest trails.
1km Race: An opportunity for young or novice runners to test their mettle in a shorter but equally exciting race.
The Koziakas region, known for its stunning natural landscapes, combines dense forests, imposing rocks, and alpine trails, creating the perfect setting for a mountain race. Koziakas, which is the second highest massif in the Thessalian Agrafa, is a popular destination for climbers and nature lovers, while Elati and Pertouli, two small mountain towns, are ideal for escaping and getting in touch with nature.
