On the occasion of the feast of Panagia Nafpaktiotissa (Madonna di Lepanto), on Easter Tuesday (22.4.2025), a special event will be held at the conference center of the Holy Monastery of the Transfiguration of the Savior of Nafpaktos at 11 a.m.
During the honorary event, a high-definition copy of the famous 11th-century Parchment (the original of which is kept in the Galleria Palatina of Palermo, Sicily) will be presented. This Parchment comes from the Brotherhood of the Nafpaktians, who had been transferred as war hostages to Palermo.
The parchment depicts the Virgin Mary in prayer and contains the Statute of the Brotherhood of Nafpaktia, according to which its religious and liturgical duties for the honor of the Icon of the Virgin Mary of Nafpaktia were defined. This high-definition copy is the work of the Italian company ImagoSrl of Rimini.
Among the official attendees will be Ms. Barbara Bertoni, director of the company ImagoSrl, and the archaeologist Dr. Maria Giovanna Fatiga, ambassador of Italy to the Republic of San Marino and head of cultural relations of ImagoSrl.
Presented by the Italian Byzantine scholar Mr. Giovanni Travagliato, professor at the University of Palermo, Italy (Department of Byzantine and Modern Art).
The choir of the Holy Monastery will accompany the honorary event with songs and will brighten the entire event, in honor of Panagia Nafpaktiotissa.
The monks and all those present during the concert and the entire event will be under the hospitable love of the host of the monastery and founder and Abbot of the Monastery, Archimandrite Spyridon Logothetis, who will close this special event in honor of Panagia Nafpaktiotissa.
The faithful copy is a donation to the Holy Monastery of the Transfiguration of the Savior of Skala, Nafpaktos, where the Holy Church of Panagia Nafpaktiotissa has been built. It will be preceded by the Morning Prayer and the Divine Liturgy (8.00 – 10.30 am) in the Holy Church of Panagia Nafpaktiotissa.
