The start of the 2025 tourist season was marked on Easter Sunday by the arrival of the first charter flights at Mytilene’s “Odysseas Elytis” airport from the United Kingdom.
It is noted that a significant percentage of visitors at this time are birdwatchers, who visit Lesvos every year, taking advantage of the spring migration and the wealth of the island’s birdlife.
The areas of Skala Kalloni, Aliki Kalloni, Aliki Polichnitou, Molyvos, and the Evergetoulas Delta are key observation points, attracting nature lovers from all over Europe.
Lesvos is considered one of the top birdwatching destinations in the Mediterranean, with over 330 species of recorded birds. Among them, species such as the silver pelican, the golden pelican, the flamingo, the black pelican, as well as the grey heron, make the area unique for nature and photography lovers.
It is recalled that in his recent statements to Tornos News, the president of the Lesvos Hoteliers Association, Vassilis Vogiatzis, had expressed his assessment that the new tourist year will be a very good year for the island of the northern Aegean.
