Samaria Gorge: Over 1,200 visitors on the first day of its reopening

  • The Samaria Gorge opened its gates to the public today with an impressive turnout, marking the official start of this year’s visitor season.

According to OFYPEKA data, a total of 1,251 visitors crossed the National Park on its first day of operation, taking advantage of full access from both entrances to the gorge.

Samaria, one of the most emblematic natural landscapes of Crete and a popular destination for nature lovers from all over the world, welcomes its visitors this year under the usual strict standards for the protection of the natural environment and the safety of visitors.

It is recalled that, based on the National Park’s Operating Regulations, visitors must respect the rules for maintaining natural balance and comply with the instructions of the staff. At the same time, they assume individual responsibility for their safety, especially in cases of emergency or unforeseen events.

Visitors are asked to show due respect for the unique ecosystem of the canyon and to strictly follow any emergency regulations or access restrictions.
