Scientific meeting on elderly care in Crete

The Region of Crete supports the Scientific Meeting “Real life challenges in the continuity of care in older people”, which will be held in Heraklion from 16 to 18 June 2025. This is an important event that brings together experts from all over Europe to discuss the challenges and best practices in elderly care.

The event is organized by the PROGRAMMING-COST program, which trains health professionals in geriatrics, and Sprin-G of the European Geriatric Society (EuGMS), in collaboration with the University Hospital of Heraklion (PAGNI), the Department of Social Work of ELMEPA, and the Hellenic Society for the Study and Research of Ageing (EEMEG).

The program includes lectures, workshops, round tables, and presentations on topics such as communication with the elderly, support for caregivers, and new models of care. The aim is to improve the quality of life of the elderly and strengthen geriatrics in Greece.

The first day begins with speeches by international experts and ends with a special presentation on Cretan herbs. In the following days, practical tools and innovative approaches will be presented, while at the end, there will be a discussion with local stakeholders on improving the care of the elderly in Crete.

The meeting emphasizes education, cooperation, and the development of policies to support the elderly, aiming for a better future for all elderly people.
