Piraeus becomes a summer "stadium" for beach handball and beach volleyball

Piraeus is a sports appointment for the next two weekends, hosting two major Pan-Hellenic events in Korai Square, turning the city center into a … summer stadium.

The Piraeus Beach Handball 2025 will be held from June 27th to June 29th, and from July 3 to July 6, the “Piraeus Masters Beach Volley 2025” follows, with the finals of ERT. Both actions are part of the official Pan-Hellenic Championships of the Handball and Volleyball Federations, respectively, and are expected to attract a number of fans and ordinary visitors.

The two events were presented at an official press conference at the Foyer of the Piraeus Municipal Theater, in the presence of organizers and local bodies.

In his statement, the Mayor of Piraeus expressed his gratitude to the Federations, the Attica Region, the Peace and Friendship Stadium, as well as the Municipal Councilor Nikos Gemelos and the Municipal Sports Directorate. As he pointed out, the actions are implemented by the Municipal Development Organization, with the funding of the Region, without a financial burden on the Municipality’s funds.

“Our goal is for Piraeus to be at the center of sports, hosting open events that highlight the city and at the same time encourage children and young people to actively participate in sports. That is why we want to establish them as an institution, “he said.

The Municipality of Piraeus is already preparing the next wave of sports activities, with a rich event calendar that will last until September, including racing, basketball, and swimming.

Speakers at the Press Conference (Photo) were Piraeus Mayor Yiannis Moralis, the Executive Municipal Sports Councilor Nikos Gemelos, the Secretary General of the Hellenic Handle Federation (OCA) Kostas Stamatiadis and the Board of Directors of the Board of Directors Importance of the city’s athletic extroversion, as well as the strategic targeting for the development of high quality events.
