Peloponnese Tourism Academy: Seventh Stop in Dimitsana with Focus on Gortynia

The Peloponnese Tourism Academy, a key initiative of the Region of Peloponnese, makes its seventh stop in Dimitsana, Gortynia, on Wednesday, December 17, 2025. The event is hosted by the Municipality of Gortynia and will be held at the Dimitsana Conference and Cultural Center. This session is part of a broader effort to strengthen the local tourism sector, with a particular focus on education, networking, and sustainable development.

Highlighting the Unique Characteristics of Gortynia

Gortynia, a municipality with a rich historical legacy, strong cultural identity, and diverse landscapes, is composed of several communities and settlements that form a cohesive, dynamic whole. It is important to note that these localities, with their individual characteristics, together create a destination that holds significant potential for high-quality tourism development. Gortynia offers complete hospitality experiences throughout the year, making it an attractive year-round destination.

The seminar is part of the “Anasa Filoxenias” (Breath of Hospitality) initiative, which emphasizes creating meaningful connections between visitors and the local environment. The event will showcase Gortynia’s diverse offerings, from its cultural heritage and gastronomy to its local character, traditions, creative entrepreneurship, and a wide range of experiences the destination can offer.

Peloponnese Tourism Academy: Empowering the Local Tourism Sector

The Peloponnese Tourism Academy is a cycle of free educational actions aimed at tourism professionals across the Peloponnese. Each session is tailored to the specific needs and characteristics of the local market, featuring presentations by renowned experts in the field, as well as interactive workshops designed to enhance practical knowledge and foster the exchange of experiences.

The goal of the Academy is to equip professionals on the front line of tourism – such as entrepreneurs, employees, managers, stakeholders, and young professionals – with practical tools and skills. At the same time, the Academy aims to create a stable network for dialogue and cooperation among tourism stakeholders.

Sustainable and Collaborative Development in Tourism

The initiative, led by the Region of Peloponnese, continues with a strategic focus on the creation of a permanent educational cycle for the tourism sector, grounded in the principles of sustainability, authenticity, and collaborative development. This seminar, supported by the Municipality of Gortynia and the Dimitsana Conference and Cultural Center, highlights the importance of local collaborations in shaping tourism policies.

By providing practical training and fostering communication between local stakeholders, the Peloponnese Tourism Academy seeks to enhance the long-term competitiveness and sustainability of the tourism sector in the region, empowering those involved in the industry to adapt to changing needs and trends.
