Santorini ranks among the ten most romantic honeymoon destinations worldwide for 2026, according to the platform hotelwithtub.com. The platform analyzed travel and social data from TripAdvisor and Instagram. The study was based on a weighted evaluation system, taking into account romantic restaurants, hotels, couple-friendly activities, scenic landscapes, and the use of relevant hashtags on social media.
At the top of the 2026 ranking is Rome, with a Romantic Score of 66 and 237 recorded honeymoon spots, confirming that classic European city breaks continue to captivate travelers. However, Santorinis presence in 9th place with 127 honeymoon spots highlights the timeless value of the Greek islands as destinations of experience and landscape.
Santorini stands out primarily for its views-first character. The sunsets in Oia, stays in hotels built on the caldera, and the calm rhythm of the evenings create a setting that favors romantic escapes. According to the study, many couples organize their trip around the views, short distances, and low-intensity experiences, while it is noted that choosing the right periodespecially outside the high seasoncan enhance the sense of privacy.
This years ranking also reflects a broader trend: couples in 2026 appear to be balancing culture and seclusion. Alongside cities such as Paris (No. 3), Barcelona (No. 5), and Lisbon (No. 6), destinations closer to nature appear, such as Ubud in Indonesia (No. 2) and Phuket (No. 4). Within this mosaic of choices, Santorini acts as a point of connection: European, yet island-based; popular, yet offering the possibility of serene experiences.
The study combines real travel behavior with the way romance is presented online. The use of romance-related hashtags shows that a destinations appeal is not limited to what is experienced on site, but also to what is shared after the trip.
