TUI Group: Andryszak takes over from Ebel

TUI Group board member Sebastian Ebel is handing over his interim post as head of TUI Germany to Polish-born Marek Andryszak as of July 1.

Ebel took over the TUI Germany role in addition to his group-level responsibilities in mid-2015 in place of Christian Clemens but only on an interim basis. The 54-year-old is responsible for hotels and cruises on the TUI Group board as well as the Central Region (Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Poland). Over the last two years he has streamlined the TUI Germany organisation and brought the market leader back on the growth path.

The handover means that Andryszak will be in full charge of the German market leader just six months after moving to Hanover.

The 44-year-old rising star started his career in Germany as a trainee with Preussag (the former TUI holding company) and became TUI’s top flight procurement manager in 2006. From 2009 to 2016 he was managing director of TUI Poland, where he led a growth programme that increased revenues from €75 million to €250 million in eight years.

Andryszak returned to Germany last summer when he took over as CEO of the group’s last-minute holidays specialist L’Tur. There he launched a restructuring programme, including 40 job losses, and repositioned the tour operator to its former aggressive pricing.

In January this year, the Pole transferred to TUI Germany as Chief Operating Officer with full responsibility for the tourism programme in place of Oliver D?rschuck, while also retaining the L’Tur post. Then in April he also took over as TUI Germany’s Chief Commercial Officer following the retirement of long-serving manager Ralf Horter.

As CEO of TUI Germany, Andryszak will remain responsible for commercial activities. His successor as COO, including the tourism programme, will be Stefan Baumert. The 43-year-old has been head of Product & Trading at TUI Germany since 2015.
