TUI: Holidaymakers face rising costs due to the falling pound

Holidaymakers facing rising costs as a result of falling pound following Brexit

The drop in the pound has caused an increase in holiday costs, especially for UK tourists, according to TUI managing director Friedrich Joussen.

However, Mr Joussen stressed that consumers tend to adjust to new prices and decide to travel anyway.

As he commented on Bloomberg, over the past 10 years, the number of trips has kept rising worldwide every year with the exception of 2009, while it is estimated that an increase will be recorded this year as well in 2018.

TUI,  he noted, aims to increase its annual revenue by 10%.

The organization expects the recovery of Egypt and Turkey after the respective outbursts of terrorism, something which is very encouraging, according to him, since they are big destinations, Turkey especially for the summer and Egypt for the winter.

Terrorism and uncertainty may be part of life, security is always a priority, but today we are witnessing a strong recovery of Turkey and Egypt, he concluded.
