Konstantinos Papagiannopoulos was born and raised in Athens, while he has spent the last 5 years in Berlin and holds a Master in Business Administration (MBA). In the past few months, he has taken over the position of Account Manager in Get Your Guide, responsible for the Greek tourism market, with the ultimate goal of developing Greece into one of GetYourGuide’s top destinations worldwide. Konstantinos has a 13-year work experience in the field of sales both in Greece and Germany, and he is a fan of Greek islands and Mediterranean cuisine.
GetYourGuide was founded in 2009. Our founders, Johannes Reck and Tao Tao, started the company as a peer-to-peer travel guide marketplace while still in university, but they quickly pivoted after they realized the opportunity to bring the $129 billion tours and activities segment of the global tourism industry online. Now, as the leading booking platform for travel activities, we offer access to more than 30,000 attractions, tours and activities in upwards of 2,500 destinations around the world, both on our own site and in partnership with premier travel brands like Emirates and easyJet. We’re headquartered in Berlin, and our global team comprises 360 people across our offices in 11 countries!
2. What monuments, highlights or attractions across the globe are most popular for your customers?
We’ve come quite a long way from the days of offering a marketplace for peer-to-peer guides. Now, we’re proud to work with some of the most famous attractions in the world: the Eiffel Tower in Paris; the Colosseum in Rome; the Sagrada Familia in Barcelona, just to name a few — not to mention the TV Tower in our home city of Berlin.
3. How strong is the demand for Greece and what local tours are high on travelers’ preference lists?
Demand for Greece is strong and growing at the moment. We’re seeing a lot of interest in archaeology-oriented tours: walking tours of the Acropolis; day trips to Meteora and Delphi. In addition, boat cruises in the Aegean Sea, sailing trips around the islands and winery tours are having a strong season.
4. Do you intend to proceed with development actions in Greece? If so, what do you plan to do?
Our plan is ambitious: to be the number one provider of attraction tickets and signature tours in Greece. In order to do so, we’ll continue to expand our own inventory, as well as our collaborations with the best tour operators on the mainland and across the islands. Our partnerships with global travel brands will play a critical role in helping us meet our goal, too — not to mention our increasingly popular mobile app, with its instant booking possibilities!
