Pieria tourism is entering a path of internationalization, as the strategic collaboration of the Pierian Tourism Development and Promotion Organization (P.O.T.A.P.) with the leading European tour operator Sunweb is dynamically entering the implementation phase.
In this context, Pieria welcomed on Thursday, May 22, the representative of Sunweb, Iris de Jong, on a working visit that aimed to provide a detailed presentation of the region as an emerging destination for the markets of the Netherlands, Belgium and more broadly Central and Northern Europe.
The representative was welcomed by the Financial Administrator and member of the Board of Directors of P.O.T.A.P., Stelios Ouzas, who presented the advantages of Pieria: its natural wealth, quality hotel infrastructure and the experiences it offers throughout the year – from the coasts of Thermaikos to Mount Olympus and its historical monuments.
“Pieria has everything that the modern traveler is looking for: authenticity, hospitality, and quality services. The collaboration with an international player like Sunweb is an important step in strengthening the extroversion of our destination”, emphasized Mr. Ouzas.
Sunweb’s visit included contacts with tourism professionals, presentation of local packages, and on-site visits to hotels and attractions in the region. The initial response is considered positive, strengthening the potential for Pieria to be included in Sunweb’s official lists for the next tourist season.
