Crete and Rhodes are in the top five most popular medium-haul destinations for Austrian tourists who are going to travel this autumn with TUI.
According to the TUI Autumn Holiday Trend Check survey, which is based on booking data from the tour operator in Austria, Crete (Heraklion) is seeing a strong increase in demand for autumn getaways and is the third most popular destination for Austrians.
The first destination is Hurghada, followed by Antalya, which has seen a significant increase compared to last year. The first three destinations, including Heraklion, are seeing an increase in demand of up to 18% compared to last year, according to TUI.
TUI offers a number of weekly flights from Vienna and one weekly flight from Salzburg to Crete.
The fifth most popular destination for Austrians, after Larnaca, is Rhodes.
Meanwhile, in the country ranking, Greece is in fourth place. This year, Egypt knocked Spain out of first place, recording a 16% increase in demand. Spain is followed by Turkey, Greece and Cyprus. Egypt and Turkey recorded the largest increase among the top 5 destination countries, which is over 15%.
