With the promise that Lemnos “will now see more Turkish visitors”, the Turkish delegation departed from the island, participating in a familiarization trip / fam trip, which was organized by the Greek National Tourism Organization of Turkey Abroad Service in collaboration with the North Aegean Region, the Municipality of Lemnos, the Hoteliers’ Association in Lemnos and the Turkish Tour Operators Association TURSAB.
The eight-member delegation visited Lemnos from 06 to 09/09/2025 as part of EOT communication actions to promote Greek destinations, which satisfy the ever-growing demand of the Turkish tourist market for new and authentic travel experiences.
The aim of the action was to tour the Turkish tourism market professionals to the island of Lemnos, its tourist infrastructure and the authentic experiences it offers, with the aim of including it in holiday packages that will be addressed to the Turkish public.
During their stay, the guests had the opportunity to visit:
The oldest city in Europe, Poliochni, and the archaeological site of Hephaestus, which bears witness to the island’s centuries-old history.
Traditional settlements such as Myrina, with its Venetian castle, picturesque alleys, the Archaeological Museum and the Toy Museum.
Wineries and production units of local products, getting to know the rich gastronomic tradition firsthand.
Pristine landscapes, beaches and areas of particular natural beauty, which highlight the ecotourism character of Lemnos.
Also, meetings were held with representatives of the Local Government, tourism bodies and professionals of the island, with the aim of exchanging views and developing partnerships that will strengthen tourist flows from Turkey.
Of particular importance was the B2B meeting held with local tourism professionals at the VAROS Village Hotel, from which positive results and partnerships have already emerged, with agreements concerning the 2026 tourist season.
Lemnos, as an emerging destination that has all the conditions (natural beauty, history, tradition and hospitality), has attracted more and more Turkish visitors following the implementation of the visa at the gate pilot program for Turkish citizens.
The mission was attended by the President of the Regional Union of TURSAB based in Edirne, Mr. EGEMEN AYDIN, the President of the Association of Turkish Tour Operators TTID, Mr. YILDIRIM ORHAN ?EB? and the social media influencer ?YK? YAL?IN.
The Prefect of the Regional Government of Limnos, Apostolos Koutsoyiannis, the Deputy Mayor of Tourism, Dimitris Boulotis and the President of the Hoteliers Association, Mr. Konstantakis Nomikos, assisted in all activities, offering substantial support to the program.
The President of the Association of Turkish Tour Operators TTID, Mr. YILDIRIM ORHAN ?EB? expressed his satisfaction with the impeccable organization, the warm hospitality and the positive results of the trip, emphasizing that “Lemnos will now see more visitors from Turkey”.
