The airline TUIfly is moving towards a leadership change at the end of the year, when the contract of Michael Garvens, former head of Cologne Airport, expires.
Garvens will be replaced by Sven Freisenich, who has three decades of experience in aviation.
Freisenich will officially join TUIfly in November. He has experience as a pilot and senior executive at major European airlines such as LTU and Air Berlin, where he held positions in flight operations, crew management and human resources.
With this change, Freisenich will combine two crucial roles: Managing Director and Account Manager, duties previously held by Stefan Wulf, who will now focus on the Flight Operations Governance team. This development is part of the general restructuring of TUI Airline, which aims to centralize and unify the administrative functions of all its subsidiaries.
All five airlines of the TUI group are controlled by the TUI Airline Board, led by Marco Ciomperlik (CEO).
The airline operates a total of 130 aircraft, of which 20 are long-haul. The network includes five airlines: TUI Airways (United Kingdom), TUIfly (Germany), TUIfly Belgium, TUIfly Netherlands and TUIfly Nordic (Scandinavia).
The TUI Airline leadership team also includes Peter Glade as CCO and Tilman Reinshagen, who recently took over as Chief Operating Officer (COO), after his tenure at Brussels Airlines.
