Special operational sticker for tourist accommodation units abolished in Greece

The special operational sticker needed by tourist accommodation units (rooms and apartments) to operate legally in Greece is scrapped by a draft law aiming to facilitate licensing procedures of businesses, which was recently tabled in Parliamment by the Economy and Development Ministry.

After October 1, 2017, new tourist accommodation units owners will only have to notify the authorities as a necessary prerequisite for the unit to operate legally while, in the meanwhile, until abolished, the special sticker will be issued to interested parties in 28 days instead of 50 as it is today.

The architectural plans of tourist accommodation units or the decision that approves a tourist accommodation’s environmental conditions will also not have to submitted anymore.

Furthermore, a specific operational license will no longer be compulsory for swimming pools located within tourist accommodation units premises as the owners will be simply required only to notify the authorities of the pool’s existence.

Only tourist accommodation units with a capacity of 51 beds or more will be required to have a fire safety certificate issued while classification of furnished rooms or apartments for rent will be optional.
