Airbnb message to hosts: Take part in the EU consultation on housing

The European Commission is inviting key stakeholders in EU housing markets to a public consultation until 17 October 2025 to identify policy actions for the affordable housing plan, based on the knowledge gained. “These actions should add value at European level and, where necessary, be adapted at national, regional and local level,” the Commission says.

Airbnb, in a message to hosts working with the platform in Greece, invites them to participate in the consultation, as it says it will form the basis for shaping new strategies and laws on housing, influencing affordability, urban development and the way short-term rental accommodation is managed, factors that are extremely important for hosting guests in Europe.

The European Commission’s consultation is aimed at…

  • social housing providers, landlord and tenant organisations, and the real estate sector;
  • construction and renovation industries and traders, as well as producers of construction and renovation materials and equipment;
  • civil society organisations;
  • financial institutions and bodies;
  • research and academics;
  • educational institutions, urban planners and architects;
  • the general public, including young people;
  • organisations supporting the homeless and other vulnerable people and representing the interests of young people and families;
  • health, tourism and mobility associations.
