Troodos Mountains in Cyprus see first major snowfall

The first major snowfall has occurred in the Troodos Mountains, SigmaLive has learnt on Friday. 

According the website’s information the roads in the area have remained open, but drivers are cautioned to use care.

Live cameras on the Zeus ski slopes have shown images of the snowfall on Friday. 

The low barometric pressure is moving eastward the meteorological service has reported, and the weather is expected to improve over the weekend. 

Tonight the weather the temperature is expected to fall to 8 degrees C inland, 11 degrees C on the coast, and 1 degree C in the mountains. 

Tomorrow the weather is expected to be mild and partly cloudy, the meteorological service reported.

Temperatures are set to rise to 18 degrees C on the coastal and inland areas, while the temperature is expected to rise to 8 degrees C in the mountains.  

In the evening the weather is expected to be partly cloudy, the meteorological service said.

On Sunday the weather is set to be partly cloudy, with a chance of scattered showers.  

Rain is also expected on Monday, the meteorological service said. 

On Tuesday the weather is expected to be partly cloudy.
