Greek MEP meets head of Chinese People’s Institute of Foreign Affairs Hailong Wu

The substantial progress in relations between the European Union and China and in establishing cooperation of global importance that benefited the European and Chinese peoples, was underlined during a meeting between European Parliament Vice President Dimitris Papadimoulis and the head of Chinese People’s Institute of Foreign Affairs, Hailong Wu, in Strasbourg on Friday.

Their talks focused on entrepreneurship, investments, climate change, culture, research and trade, while they stressed the importance of the huge “One Belt One Road” investment project, as well as the initiative for the “Blue Year 2017 for Shipping” and “Tourism Year 2018”.

Both sides pointed out the need for sustainable quality growth with social cohesion and the importance of international cooperation and dialogue.

Papadimoulis referred to the positive climate between Greece and China, saying that it constitutes an example of bilateral relations based on common interests with continously increasing prospects for growth.

Papadimoulis, in his capacity as vice president of the European parliament, will visit China at the invitation of the National Peoples Congress of China during December.
