Rhodes brings to mind sunshine-filled days, blue seas, medieval castles and ancient wonders. Beautifully enhanced by the idyllic beach scene, Rhodes hosts a major Marathon event, aimed at challenging the athletes’ stamina while generously offering all their guests a warm welcome.
On Sunday 29th April 2018, runners will have the opportunity to run in Rhodes, on a flat course with the spectacular views of the deep blue Aegean Sea, along the coastline and the walls of the Medieval Town of Rhodes, declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.
The International Rhodes Marathon is organized by the South Aegean Region and the local department of Greek Athletics Federation SEGAS, with the support of the Municipality of Rhodes and the Rhodes Hotels Association.
It is fully accredited by AIMS, the Association of International Marathons and apart from the Marathon and the Half Marathon, 5K, a 10K and a 1000m kids race, are available providing more choices for the runners.
All races will start from and end in the center of the city at Eleftherias square, passing by the main attractions of Rhodes, on an entirely car-free route.
Aegean Airlines, as the official air carrier for the 5th Rhodes Marathon, is offering special rates for groups of over 10 people, while the official sea transport sponsor, Blue Star Ferries, has a 50% discount for passengers travelling to Rhodes for the race.
A wide range of accommodation options are also available in the city of Rhodes at well-appointed hotels from three to five stars, offering special rates and extra benefits for the runners, such as a special marathon breakfast!
Last but not least, the legendary pasta party, the now customary way of providing fuel and sustenance for the following day’s exertions, gets off the mark itself on Saturday night and is free for all the runners. It is a not-to-be-missed opportunity to socialize with competitors and their supporters from 15 different countries and relax before the big day.

The organising committee presented the final details regarding the four races that will take place on Sunday, which include the marathon with 188 athletes, a half-marathon with the participation of 306 runners, a 10-kilometre race with 239 athletes and a 5.0 km race with 1,356 participants.
The Marathon of Rhodes attracted 255 athletes from all over the world, with the greatest number of participants from Britain, France, Poland, The Netherlands, Germany, Turkey and the USA.
