Greek retail sales volume grew 3.2% in August mainly thanks to tourism with only the fuel category recording a decline, Hellenic Statistical Authority said on Wednesday, according to ANA.
The statistics service, in a monthly report, attributed this development to sales rises in furniture/home appliances (6.7 pct), supermarkets (6.1 pct), bookstores (3.2 pct), department stores (2.9 pct), food/tobacco/alcohol (2.1 pct), pharmaceuticals/cosmetics (0.8 pct) and clothing/footwear (0.7 pct). On the other hand the volume of sales fell in fuel/lubricants (2.2 pct).
