Greek Ministry approves compensation for island communities damaged during migrant unrest

The Migration & Asylum Ministry approved 6.2 million euros in compensation to municipalities and individuals at North Aegean islands for “damage in 2020 and previous years caused by those living in the reception centers,” according to a decision posted late on Wednesday, ANA reports.

The municipalities and residents of Mytilini, West Lesvos, Chios, East & West Samos, Kos, and Leros, which contain temporary facilities for migrants and refugees, will be the recipients of the compensation.
