Athens Police directorate bans two open downtown rallies on Sunday morning

The Athens Police Directorate banned two open rallies at 10:30 and 12:00 at Syntagma Square on Sunday, it announced on Friday, ANA reports.

Rallies were scheduled by members of the movement “Constitutional National Assembly/Direct Democracy (12:00) and members of the “Community of Special Forces Reserves” (pre-rally, at 10:30).

Police said the ban is in effect from 06:00 on Sunday to 06:00 on Monday in the areas around Syntagma Square, Alexandras and Messoghion Avenues, Michalakopoulou and Ilia Iliou, Syngrou, Pireos, Plateia Karaiskaki, among others.
