Greece and China ink police cooperation agreement in Athens

Greece’s Citizen Protection Minister Michalis Chryssochoidis signed an agreement for police collaboration with Public Security Minister of the People’s Republic of China, Wang Xiaohong, at the Greek ministry on Tuesday.

In a ministry statement, the two sides confirmed the good cooperation between Greece and China and discussed common issues related to challenges and social stability. Both sides agreed to strengthen collaboration between services to fight organized and financial crimes, drug trafficking, and to manage illegal migration. The cooperation agreement also foresees an exchange of information and technical know-how, as well as training officers of both countries to upgrade their operational capabilities.

In the context of the police collaboration agreement, Chryssochoidis proposed that a coordinating committee be set up to prioritize all actions needed to fight organized crime, in order to improve the speed and effectiveness of services.
