Sky Express records a 40% and 10% increase in the international and domestic network, respectively in the number of airline seats compared to last year.
The largest increase in the domestic network concerns Crete, but an even greater increase was recorded in international routes to destinations such as Frankfurt, Düsseldorf, and Warsaw.
On Thursday, the airline receives one of the two new aircraft, an Airbus A322, which will be added to its fleet of 29 aircraft, and at the end of the summer the other will be delivered, with the aim of the first entering directly into the implementation of the summer flight schedule and the second into winter routes.
With the motto “faster, higher, stronger”, the commercial director of Sky Express, Mr. Gerasimos Skaltsas, at a special event held at the Olympic Museum of Athens, pointed out: “The company continues its expansion abroad as a key pillar of the growth strategy for 2025 and 2026”. In this context, 5 new European destinations are added to its network: Madrid, Lisbon, Hamburg, Berlin, and Lyon.
In 2024, the airline carried over 5 million passengers, expanded its international network with 7 new destinations (Istanbul, Tirana, Tbilisi, Yerevan, Prague, Vienna, and Amsterdam), and acquired 6 new aircraft.
“Trust is our greatest reward. Our strategic choices have been justified. We are the only airline in Greece that has achieved so much in such a short period of time,” said Mr. Skaltsas, and emphasized that the company has the newest and most modern fleet of aircraft in Greece.
The Director of Communication and Marketing of Athens International Airport, Ms. Ioanna Papadopoulou, referred to the development path of Sky Express and its position as a valuable partner of Athens Airport. As she stated, Sky Express has increased its share from a market share of 2.5% at Athens Airport in 2019 to 12%.
Within the first five months of 2025, the growth in the domestic network amounts to +4% and in the international network to +31%, compared to the corresponding 5 months of 2024, with the market share for this period showing an increase of 13.7%.
Sky Express is moving up in international passenger traffic, which is the essential growth factor for Athens Airport, having managed to reach the ratio of international and domestic networks at 35% and 65% respectively, while maintaining a balance in the business, leisure and vfr (visiting friends and relatives) market segments, laying the foundations for healthy further growth, underlined Ms. Papadopoulou.
“With Sky Express, beyond numbers, we are united by values, people, and visions, to continuously develop the interconnectivity of our city and country, but also by environmental responsibility and sustainability,” she added.
During the first quarter of 2025, the company recorded a 10% increase in passenger traffic and 8.5% in revenue compared to the corresponding period in 2024, with international passenger traffic showing an increase of 27%.
SKY Express serves the largest network of Greek destinations, with 33 points throughout the country, while its international destinations amount to 26.
