Karpathos promotes climbing and alternative tourism – Deputy Mayor talks to T.N.

Karpathos is opening new paths in alternative tourism with the Karpathos Climb & Adventure Fest 2025, which will take place for the first time on October 6 and 7, 2025. The festival combines outdoor activities such as climbing, hiking, running, cycling and diving with cultural and gastronomic experiences, highlighting the natural and cultural wealth of the island.

The festival has already attracted international interest, with journalists and influencers from Finland, Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Austria, Poland and the Netherlands invited to share their experience with international media and markets of interest. The event will feature group climbing, hiking, presentations of local flora and fauna, introductory diving courses, climbing and safety seminars, a demonstration of the local pasta “macaroons”, cycling tours, a pottery workshop, a traditional dinner and musical events.

As the Deputy Mayor of Tourism of Karpathos, Tasos Milios, tells Tornos News, “this is a celebration of alternative forms of tourism, combining outdoor activities such as climbing, hiking, running, cycling and diving with cultural and gastronomic experiences, highlighting the uniqueness of the island’s natural and cultural wealth. Journalists and influencers from Finland, Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Austria, Poland and the Netherlands have been invited to the event, who will share their experience with the international media. Their participation strengthens the strategy of promoting Karpathos in European markets with a particular interest in alternative and sustainable tourism. The aim of the festival is to highlight Karpathos as a destination of authentic experience and adventure and to contribute to the extension of the tourist season, promoting October and the low months as ideal periods for outdoor activities.”

With the Karpathos Climb & Adventure Fest 2025, Karpathos takes another step towards establishing itself on the international map of alternative forms of tourism, showcasing the island’s character, tradition and hospitality to an international travel audience.
