Highway to Hellas changes Greeks image in Germany

«Highway to Hellas» comedy movie, filmed in Tinos and focusing on Greek culture, premiered recently in German cinemas. The film is a Greek-German production which aims through humoristic descriptions to dispel prejudices created against the Greeks. According to the scenario, Jörg Geissner, a German bank clerk arrives at a Greek island to verify the conditions of a loan granted years ago. His investigation indicates that the registered shares of the loan, a hospital and a power plant, do not exist. Yet, Greeks would make the German show that in fact they do exist. So, Geissner embarks upon an Odyssey in order to defend himself against an entire island’s population.The movie flirts with economic developments in the country, since if the loan is lost, the island would go bankrupt and be destroyed. However, the German’s acquaintance of the German with a lovable island inhabitant will create sympathy…
