The German Travel Association (DRV) has criticised plans to raise the entry prices for state-owned attractions and museums in Turkey.
Price increases of up to 30% are planned for cultural sites such as the Hagia Sophia and the Topkapi Palace in Istanbul.
In a letter to the Turkish embassy in Berlin, DRV president Norbert Fiebig warned that “this step threatens to counteract the efforts of the Turkish government” (for a tourism recovery) and called on Ankara to review the price increase or, at least, to explain it more clearly.
The DRV will hold its annual conference in Kusadasi on the Aegean Coast this year.
