Master musician, conductor and pianist Vladimir Ashkenazy, with his son Dimitri Ashkenazy on solo clarinet, returns to the Odeon of Herodes Atticus on August 1. Vladimir Ashkenazy will conduct the Athens State Orchestra as it performs a rich classical programme in its third and final appearance at the Odeon during the 2016 Athens and Epidaurus Festival.
The programme begins with Beethoven’s “Prometheus” overture, the composer’s one and only work of music for ballet that premiered in Vienna in 1801.
This will be followed by Mozart’s “Concerto for clarinet and orchestra in A major” featuring Dimitri Askhenazy and conclude with Tchaikovsky’s “Symphony No. 4 in F minor”.
Tickets are available for 10 euros in the Upper Tier to 30 euros in the VIP section, with discount prices available for students, unemployed and the disabled.
