Five students from the Mathematics Department of the University of Athens excelled at the annual International Mathematics Competition and bagged five medals – one gold, two silver and two bronze.
The University of Athens was represented by Kostas Psaromilingos (gold), Antonis Zitridis (silver), Konstantinos Tsinas (silver), Phaedon Andriopoulos (bronze) and Michalis Sarantis (bronze).
The annual competition, which is being carried out since 1994, is organized by the University College of London and took place between the 25th and 31st July in Bulgaria.
This year a total of 258 students from 46 groups took place. In the competition students are tested for two days and are called to solve five problems each day.
