Greece will hold its open photography competition “Wiki Loves Monuments”, as part of the same international competition which will run through September.
The “Wiki Loves Monuments” allows photographers from all over the world to take pictures of monuments of cultural heritage in their respective countries and sent them to Wikimedia, where a team will select and vote the 10 best pictures. These photographs will be available for anyone to see and use.
The international contest began on September 1 and the deadline for uploading the photos is September 30. In Greece, the competition will begin on September 8th at 00:01. The winning images and multimedia in the Greek part of the contest will compete for cash prizes which will be awarded to the first three winners while the top ten will also be given a poster with the photo with which they participated.
The final winners of the international competition will be announced in December. For more information on the Greek contest, go to: http://wlm.wikimedia.gr
The contest was first organized in the Netherlands in 2010 and was then launched throughout Europe in 2011 and internationally in 2012.
