Cyprus Education Minister Costas Kadis and Russian Education and Science Minister Olga Vasilyeva signed an agreement in the fields of education and sciences on Saturday.
The agreement provides for the mutual recognition of academic titles between Cypriot and Russian Universities.
The agreement was signed in Moscow, with Rectors from different Cyprus Universities present.
Kadis stated that the agreement “is a catalyst in the enhancement of cooperation between the two countries“, while adding that the “further strengthening of bilateral cooperation” is his Ministry`s priority.
The Education Minister added that Universities from both countries can now “join forces so that they can create new opportunities for students, academics and researchers.
Regional education centre
Cadis also underlined that the agreement contributes to the efforts made by the government to make Cyprus a regional education centre.
Vasilyeva commented that the agreement is a “very important step in the strengthening of cooperation between Cyprus and Russia,” referring to the long standing bilateral ties between both nations.
She added that the agreement “attaches great importance in the expansion of partnerships between the universities in the two countries.”
