Museums and archaeological sites throughout Greece will be closed on Monday due to a 24-hour warning strike declared by the Panhellenic Union of Employees for Guarding Antiquities.
The museum and site guards are demanding that they continue to receive Sunday, holiday and overtime pay from the Archaeological Receipts Fund and that the government immediately withdraw a bill on the fund’s re-organisation, as well as the hiring of an additional 200 guards announced by the prime minister in December.
