The Stavros Niarchos Foundation (SNF) invites the Greek State to accept delivery of the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center, one of the most significant cultural, educational and environmental projects in Greece, located some 4.5km south of Athens
SNF invites the public to participate in the delivery celebrations, entitled “It’s Yours”, a free event aiming to ensure that there will be an ongoing dialogue between the public and the new managers, the state.
Indeed, SNF has since the beginning in 2006 of the project expressed its vision to make the Center fully accessible to the public through open events.
The official delivery ceremony is scheduled to take place on February 23, 2017, when the SNFCC will hand over the keys to its real owners, its present and future visitors.
The handover celebration will feature concerts and dance events, creative programs, sports, readings, workshops and many more surprises and will be broadcast live across the premises.
Upon the delivery of the project, the Foundation intends to continue to actively support the SNFCC, at least for the next five years, with grants of up to €50 million. These grants will cover operating expenses for SNFCC SA, as well as programming and event costs for the SNFCC.
Along with the delivery of SNFCC,which is one of the country’s largest infrastructure projects housing the Greek National Opera, a two-million-book National Library and the 170,000m2 Stavros Niarchos Park on the Faliro Bay shoreline, the relocation process of the National Library of Greece (NLG) and the Greek National Opera (GNO) to the SNFCC also begins.
