For the first time the Megaron-Athens Concert Hall is organizing an International Animated Film Music Competition as part of an ongoing strategy to develop the creative association between music and screen. The competition is organized in collaboration with the well known Animasyros International Animation Festival + Agora.
This year the entrants are called to compose original music for the awarded animation film by the Greek cinematography Irini Vianelli of “The leaf of the poplar”, inspired by Giorgos Seferis’ poem about the ordeal of refugees who crossed the Mediterranean Sea in the past.
The competition deadline is April 19, 2017. On May 17, 2017 the short-listed films will be screened before an audience and a panel of experts will choose the final winners. The panel will consist of the French composer Pierre Caillet, specializing in animation music, professor and composer Vasco Hexel of the Royal College of Music (London) and Greek composers Dimitris Maragopulos, Nikos Platyrachos, Konstantinos Vita as well as Maria Anestopoulou, art director of Animasyros Festival.
Deadline for submission: April 19, 2017
