Ambassadors, diplomats and Greek opera singers are planning their fourth joint appearance at the ‘Megaron’ Athens Concert Hall on March 15, in a charity concert to raise funds to support the S.O.S. Children’s Villages child welfare organisation.

The event entitled “Diplomats in Concert in Athens” will be held in the Megaron’s Banquet Hall and start at 20:00 in the evening.

Diplomats and ambassadors from Australia, Austria, Germany, Georgia, Japan, Canada, Luxembourg, Bangladesh, Slovakia, Slovenia and the Czech Republic will be taking part, along with the soprano Anna Stylianaki, baritone Dionysis Sourbis, the John Balikos Jazz Trio and pianists Evgenia Votanopoulou, Dimitris Giakas and Panos Karan, with Agathaggelos Georgakatos conducting. In charge of the lighting is Eleftheria Deko, while Nikos Tsaousis is responsible for the production as a whole.

The evening’s programme will include works by Schubert, Vivaldi, Chopin, Rossini, Tchaikovsky, Verdi, Nino Rota and Mikis Theodorakis. Invitations cost 30 euros and are available from the central offices of the SOS Children’s Villages (Karageorgi Servias 12-14, 1st floor, 210 3313661). The revenue will be used to equip a house in a new SOS Children’s Village in Iraklio, Crete.
