A tribute to Venezuelan cinema featuring six films which represent the country’s cultural background, drawing their subjects from history, adventure and modern day reality, will be held at the Michael Cacoyannis Foundation in Athens on Friday, Saturday and Sunday (March 17-19).
The selected films have been nominated for numerous international prizes and some of them have received important awards, such as Goya Awards, the San Sebastian Golden Shell and the Venice Film Festival Golden Lion.
The Venezuelan Film Festival is organised by the country’s embassy in Greece and aims to acquaint Greek audiences with the development and consolidation of the Venezuelan film industry, which has increased its production to over one hundred films a year, including both feature and short films.
The featured films include “Desde all?” (Golden Lion at the Venice Film Festival in 2015 and nominated at the Goya Awards), “Azul no tan rosa,” (Goya Award for Best Latin American Film in 2013), ?Pelo Malo,? (12 international awards, including Best Film), “Libertador,” (Venezuelan entry for the Best Foreign Language Film at the 87th Academy Awards), “Venezzia” and “El Manzo Azul”.
