Τhe Greek Minister of Culture Ms Lydia Koniordou stated that the restoration of the Parthenon, which is the foundation of the Western values, can send a message about Europe’s commitment to democracy at a time when many believe it is threatened by the rise of nationalism.
“The reunification of the Parthenon Marbles will be a symbolic act that will highlight the fight against the forces that undermine the values and foundations of European case, against those who seek the dissolution of Europe. The Parthenon is a symbol of the Western culture. It is the icon of democracy, dialogue and freedom of thought” said the Minister.
