Cycladic Art Museum: Educational programs for children aged 2-12

The Museum of Cycladic Art’s educational programs for children continue into April, featuring a variety of opportunities for young museum goers to discover art and how art and play makes sense of the world. Story-telling, interactive tours, visual workshops, photography and music come together in the 7 different activities scheduled for the month of April.

Flexible animals – For kids aged 2-3,5

How did camels get their humps? Through a workshop that takes visitors to far away deserts, we find the answers and return to our home base to work with aluminum foil, dough and clay. Stretching, kneading, beating, molding and combining our materials, we make our own unusual sculptures. This activity, hosted by narrator Antonia Vellios and developmental psychologist Despoina Sakellarios, builds on relaxing and dynamic play, and calls for parents and children to get comfortable in their clothes, which are sure to get dirty!

When: Sundays, April 2 and 9, 11:30-13:00

Admission: €15

Friends of the Museum of Cycladic Art: €12 (1 child/member. Membership card required)

Siblings: €12

Mail Art – For kids aged 4-5

A letter bringing bad news, changes hands and the news become good! A hero is in danger because of a king’s wrath, and the robber that helps him out becomes king himself! In fairytales and real life alike, mail has always been a bearer of bad and good news. Some people saw mail as an art form, and the mail art movement discovered the joys of sending small scale works of art through the mail. Ornate cards, collages and other materials are the ones used by the art movement, and kids will be using them too in this activity, hosted by narrator Antonia Vellios and developmental psychologist Despoina Sakellarios, to make their own art. Kids should be dressed comfortably.

When: Saturday, April 8, 11:00-12:30; Sunday, April 23, 11:30-13:00

Admission:€10

Friends of the Museum of Cycladic Art: €7 (1 child/member. Membership card required)
