Tourist promotion of Ancient Greek site of Delphi through filming "Siege"

The Municipality of Delphi accepted the request of the filmmaker, director and scriptwriter, Mr. Vassilis Tsikaras, for moral and material support of filming needs of movie “Siege” to be shot in the city of Amfissa.

“Siege” is the second of Aratos Films’ trilogy for 1821, to be aired just before the bicentennial anniversary of the Greek Independence Revolution.

For the purposes of filming, the Municipality of Delphi offers among other things the accommodation and board of up to 40 people for about 16 to 18 days, the means of transporting the movie’s staff, approval of filming inside the Church of the Transfiguration of the Savior and the surrounding area outside the Castle, support for obtaining the necessary permits.

In addition, the Municipality will lend its support to the producer’s search for local financial sponsorship.

Delphi Municipality will also participate as a non-profit co-producer of the film.

The movie is expected to enhance the visibility of the area and its tourist traffic, encourage religious and historic tourism, as well as promote the region as a “cinematic destination”. 

Shooting shall commence on Monday April 9th and end on Thursday April 26th.
