Visitors to the Acropolis Museum in Athens will be able to enter free of charge between 17:00-20:00 this Saturday and Sunday, for both the permanent collections and the visiting exhibition “Forbidden City: The imperial apartments of Qianlong” that will run until February 2, 2019, ANA reports.
The discount is offered for this year’s European Heritage Days, during which many Greek museums and archaeological sites will open without charge this weekend.
The museum has also announced the beginning of guided presentations of the ‘Forbidden City’ exhibition starting on October 5, giving visitors a deeper insight into the personal items, artwork and furniture, dating from 1711-1799, that are shown outside the Forbidden City in Beijing for the first time.
The 60-minute presentations, available in Greek and English, will take place every Friday, Saturday and Sunday – at 11:00 on each day in English and at 13:00 on each day in Greek. Registrations to attend these can be made at the museum information desk on the day of the presentations. Attendance is free of charge (apart from the 3 euro ticket to enter the exhibition) but places are limited and will be given on a first-come, first-served basis.
