December 3 has been established by the UN as the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, int.ert.gr reports.

This day was established in 1992 and is marked worldwide, aiming at raising awareness and social mobilization for the integration of people with disabilities in every aspect of political, social, economic, and cultural life.

On the occasion of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, the Prime Minister, K. Mitsotakis, and the Minister of Culture, Lina Mendoni, inaugurated the new elevator and the access corridors for the disabled to the Holy Rock of the Acropolis, funded by the Onassis Foundation.

As Prime Minister noted: “A great, bright day that proves that  Greek state and the private initiative can work together and for an emblematic project that makes the Acropolis accessible to all humanity”

Mitsotakis added that it is the first step to implement the National Plan for the rights of the disabled, which is under consultation.
