Greece will receive 15 antiquities dating from the Prehistoric to the Roman periods that had been confiscated by Swiss authorities from a well-known antiquities dealer, the Ministry of Culture and Sports said on Thursday, ANA reports.
The objects are part of a larger group of confiscated antiquities, and the general consulate of Greece in Geneva notified the ministry of their existence. The claim to the objects through a lawyer representing the Greek state was greenlighted by a Geneva court, which ordered their repatriation.
According to the ministry announcement, the antiquities include statuettes, clay and bronze vessels, a gold diadem with laurel leaves, a torso of a young nude male, a bronze statuette of an athlete, a pair of bronze greaves, and a stater (silver coin).
