Syracuse show on Mycenaean influence on Sicily includes golden cup of Dendra

The “Paolo Orsi” Regional Archaeological Museum in Syracuse inaugurated an exhibition on the influence Mycenaean civilization had on the island, the Greek Culture Ministry said on Tuesday, ANA reports.

“The Kingdom of Ahhijawa. The Mycenaeans and Sicily” will run from May 11 to October 9, and includes 80 artifacts borrowed from the National Archaeological Museum, the Archaeological Museum of Mycenae, and the Archaeological Museum of Patras related to the Achaeans. 

The inclusion of the Greek Ministry of Culture confirms and honors the strong ties of cooperation and friendship between Greece and Italy, and highlights the continuous cultural exchange and relation of the two Mediterranean countries, the ministry statement said.
