Culture minister reviews NSRF projects on the Greek island of Lesvos

Greek Culture Minister Lina Mendoni inaugurated the Saplitza Store Rooms in the Lower Castle of Mytilini on Wednesday, during a two-day work to review projects undertaken by the ministry on the North Aegean island, ANA reports.

The Saplitza Store Rooms, a 2.9-million-euro project completed by the Lesvos Ephorate of Antiquities, included restoration work and the construction of a metal building to house ceramics laboratories and findings of the excavations by the Ephorate, a ministry statement said.

On her arrival at the island, Mendoni chaired a meeting attended by Regional Governor Konstantinos Moutzouris and other high-level ministry and regional officials. They reviewed projects the Culture Ministry has been carrying out since 2019 through the 2021-2027 North Aegean regional funding program/NSRF and also discussed those that will be included in the near future. Current projects include the Castle of Mytilini, the stabilization of the Mithymna Castle rock facade, and others.
