Guards at e-ticketed ancient sites, museums announcing work stoppage Thursday

Guards at the site of the Acropolis and all archaeological sites and museums using electronic tickets will hold a four-hour warning strike on Thursday from 08:00 to 12:00 noon, they said on Wednesday, ANA reports.

Their union PEYFA said that the work stoppage was decided to protest a decision by the government and the archaeological resources fund (ODAP, former TAP) to call for tenders for a private company to assume the checking of tickets at the site of the Athens Acropolis.

PEYFA said they had organized “two successful strike actions in December 2023 and January 2024. But despite the reactions the government and the ODAP management proceeded with their plans,” and it called against the privatization of public archaeological sites and museums.
