Crete welcomes Reveil 12 – Festival of Sounds and Ecology

This year, on May 3 and 4, 2025, Crete welcomes a rare experience of culture, natural environment, and experiential tourism. Reveil 12 – Festival of Sounds and Ecology, an international network of living soundscapes and environmental actions that travels simultaneously to Europe, the United Kingdom, America and Australia, makes a stop in Chania.

Visitors to the island will have the opportunity to experience a unique weekend at the Flora and Fauna Conservation Park of the Technical University of Crete, with free admission and a rich program that unites the art of sound, science, nature, and the new generation.

The festival offers an alternative way to experience authentic Crete: beyond beaches and gastronomy, it highlights the richness of biodiversity, the role of art in environmental awareness and the value of experiential education for young and old. Visitors and travelers are invited to connect with the landscape, listen to the dawn choir, attend lectures and screenings, and browse art and photography exhibitions that transform the park into a cultural haven.

The full program includes:

08:00 – 20:00 | Live broadcast of the 24-hour Radio Program Reveil 12
At the Park’s outpost, in a specially designed space by the Radio Entasis 93.5FM radio team, visitors can listen to soundscapes from dawn around the world – a global symphony of nature that connects Crete with every corner of the planet.

Photographic Exhibition “Fires through the Lens of a Researcher”
In collaboration with the Leverhulme Centre for Wildfires (London), the Technical University of Crete and the European University EURECA-PRO, photographs from scientific expeditions are presented, highlighting the global challenge of fires and the need for responsible management of nature.

14:00 – 15:00 | Screening of the award-winning documentary “ASHES” by Yannis Mathioudakis and discussion with the creator

15:00 – 16:30 | Educational activity for children and adults: “Fires, Climate Change and Sustainability”

Experiential walk and interactive quizzes in the park, aiming to raise awareness about the impacts of climate change.

16:30 – 17:00 | Opening of the Photographic Exhibition

17:30 – 19:00 | Art Exhibition of Kounoupidiana High School “Little Green Sea”
