Rhodes at the center of the international series Treasures of the World with Bettany Hughes

Rhodes is preparing to find itself in the international spotlight, as it was chosen as the subject of a new episode of the successful television series Treasures of the World with Bettany Hughes, which is broadcast on the British Channel 4 and on more than 120 networks worldwide, reaching a total audience of almost 2 billion viewers. The creator and presenter of the series is the distinguished historian and author Bettany Hughes, known for her penetrating look at emblematic destinations with historical and cultural depth.

This specific production comes as a follow-up to the first episode of the series, which was filmed in 2021 on the theme of Greece and included filming in Athens, Nafplio, Sparta, Aigai, Olympia, and Epidaurus. The production’s interest in Rhodes focuses on its centuries-old history, cultural heritage, and impressive natural landscape that has made it an attractive destination over time.

Rhodes’ participation in the next episode is enhanced by the support of the Greek National Tourism Organization, which has approved funding of approximately 66,800 euros to support filming and secure promotional rights. The agreement includes the provision of material, such as photos, excerpts, and trailers, to the Greek National Tourism Organization for use in social media campaigns, as well as the organization of special screenings in London and Greece for media representatives and institutional guests.

In addition, the collaboration includes the display of the Greek National Tourism Organization’s logo on the production’s international master, the presence of representatives of the organization at promotional events, as well as Bettany Hughes’ posts on her personal social media accounts with references to Greece and the organization.

The choice of Rhodes for this international production is expected to further enhance the island’s visibility abroad, highlighting its unique cultural and historical characteristics to a global audience of high interest, while contributing to further strengthening the image of Greece as a destination of experiences and authenticity.
